The Pharisee In The Mirror – Luke 10:25-37 (4/9/17)

IT’S SOMETIMES HARD TO KNOW WHAT TO GET SOMEONE FOR A GIFT.

IT’S THE CHRISLIKE THOUGHT THAT COUNTS.

LUKE 10:25-37 – THE GOOD SAMARITAN

TREAT OTHERS LIKE GOD TREATS YOU.

THE STORY INCLUDES A TROUBLING TRIP.

THE STORY INCLUDES A TROUBLING TWIST.

1-  THERE’S A PHARISEE IN MY MIRROR.

I WANT TO JUSTIFY MYSELF.  10:29

HE TRIED TO EARN SALVATION.

HIS HANDS WERE IN THE RIGHT PLACE.

HE KNEW GOD’S WORD.

HIS HEAD WAS IN THE RIGHT PLACE.

I WANT TO CONDEMN OTHERS.  10:37

SHIFT FOCUS ON SELF TO FOCUS ON GOD.

2-  THERE’S A SAVIOR BY MY SIDE.

JESUS ANSWERS THE QUESTIONS.  10:28, 30

HE POINTS TO THE AUTHORITY OF GOD’S WORD.  10:26

JESUS MEETS OUR DEEPEST NEEDS.

SOMETIMES, SOMEONE GOES AS FAR AS THIS SAMARITAN.  IT MAKES FOR A GREAT STORY.

BUT AT ALL TIMES, ONE PERSON GOES EVEN FARTHER.  IT’S THE GREATEST STORY.

THAT GIVES HOPE, CHANGES PERSPECTIVE, AND BRIGHTENS DAYS.

YOU CAN TRY DOING THINGS IN YOUR OWN POWER – OR YOU CAN VIEW LIFE AS A PARTNERSHIP WITH A GOD WHO IS A WILLING HELPER.
