This week, we will see that true citizens bear good fruit, but counterfeit members will be known for their bad fruit.
Kingdom Recognition: Walk the Good Path | Matthew 7:13-14
We only have a few more weeks in our fall series The Kingdom, looking at what it means to belong to the kingdom of God. Last week we finished exploring kingdom values, and this week we will turn our attention toward how a citizen of the kingdom will be recognized. Thanks for joining us this fall as we have been slowly walking through the teaching of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. In the gospels, Jesus presents Himself as the king who is bringing His kingdom to earth. This sermon is a manifesto explaining what His kingdom is like. Listen in as we transition from chapter six—all about kingdom worship—to chapter seven. This chapter begins by explaining His kingdom values, in other words, what matters most to God. Jesus warns His citizens to avoid unrighteous judgment and instead pursue right judgment.

This series is an in depth study on the Sermon on the Mount, a long section of Jesus’ teaching focused on what it means to be a citizen of God’s kingdom. Chapter six focuses on right worship, that which comes from the heart. This week we will explore the topic of faith. Jesus brings up the concept of anxiety, and explains how a citizen of His kingdom navigates the worries of the world in a way that is pleasing to Him.
Kingdom Worship: Genuine Pursuits | Matthew 6:19-24
This fall we are studying Matthew 5-7 closely, looking at Jesus’ teaching on The Kingdom. We are starting to see that kingdom membership is defined by genuine worship—that which comes from the heart and is aimed at pleasing God. Kingdom Worship: Genuine Prayer | Matthew 6:5-15
We are eight weeks into our fall series called The Kingdom. In this series we have been exploring Jesus’ teaching on what it means to be a citizen of God’s kingdom. We are currently in chapter six in which Jesus explains worship that is truly pleasing to God. This week Jesus will unpack common misunderstandings regarding prayer in hopes of instructing His people toward genuine prayer.
Kingdom Worship: Genuine Giving And Fasting | Matthew 6:1-4,16-18
We have seen so far that the purpose of the Sermon on the Mount was to teach on what it means to belong to God’s kingdom. Last week we wrapped up chapter five in Matthew, which was largely devoted to explaining the kingdom laws. This week we are starting chapter six, which mostly explains kingdom worship. In this chapter Jesus presents examples of misconstrued or inauthentic worship and explains afresh what pleasing worship to God looks like. Jesus' main point in this chapter is that the worshipers of their day had made worship merely external, aimed at gaining the attention of others. However, God desires worshipers who praise Him from the heart. Listen in as we discuss the first part of kingdom worship: genuine giving.
Kingdom Law: True Love | Matthew 5:38-48
Our fall series is called The Kingdom. Jesus reveals in the gospels that He has come to earth to bring His kingdom and much of this sermon is explaining what that kingdom is like. We have been spending several weeks studying chapter five which is mostly devoted to the law of the kingdom. In this chapter, He introduces common laws the people would have known, and reteaches the laws to them in order to better explain God’s original intent. This week Jesus concludes this section by discussing retaliation and love for enemies. Jesus wants His kingdom citizens to be radical in their love and treatment toward others—even those who oppose them.
Kingdom Law: True Integrity | Matthew 5:33-37
We are in week five of our fall series on the Sermon on the Mount called The Kingdom. The purpose of this series is to teach what it means to be a citizen of God’s kingdom. We are still in chapter five, which is largely devoted to explaining the law and expectations of God’s kingdom. This week Jesus addresses the topic of oaths. Jesus wants His people not to make lofty promises which are largely for show, but rather to be known as people who do what they say. Listen in as we explore Jesus’ teaching on true integrity.
Kingdom Law: True Marriage Faithfulness | Matthew 5:31-32
Our fall series is called The Kingdom, studying the Sermon on the Mount in which Jesus teaches what it looks like to be a citizen of His kingdom. In the majority of chapter five, He explains the law of His kingdom by introducing a common teaching from the Torah, and clarifies what God’s intention for that Law was. To be clear, Jesus is not changing the Law, but He is helping His people rediscover God’s original aim for the Law that had been lost and misunderstood. This week He directs His attention toward marriage and divorce. Listen in as we explore Jesus’ teaching on true marriage faithfulness.

We are three weeks into our fall series called The Kingdom, in which we are studying the Sermon on the Mount from Matthew 5-7. Jesus has come to earth as the true king to establish His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. In this sermon He explains what it means to be a citizen of His kingdom. Last week Jesus began teaching about His kingdom law by showing how He is the ultimate fulfillment of the law. This week He begins to bring clarity on popular misunderstandings in the Law of Moses, particularly as it pertains to anger and lust. Listen in as we see Jesus’ teaching on true purity.

Kingdom Citizenship | Matthew 5:1-16
This fall we are starting a new sermon series called The Kingdom, in which we will be studying Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 5-7, often referred to as the Sermon on the Mount. This “sermon” is the single longest teaching the Bible records of Jesus. These instructions come early on in His earthly ministry which is filled with His announcement of Him building a kingdom. This “sermon” sets Jesus up as the king, teaching others what belonging to the kingdom of God looks like. Listen in as we see a description of what a citizen of the kingdom looks like through the “beatitudes”, and metaphors of salt and light.
